The Anonymous Project: Restoring Hope and Rebuilding Gaza’s Future

The Anonymous Project is delivering help to Palestinians in Gaza who have suffered tremendously because of attacks from Israeli forces. In March of 2025, Israel blocked Gaza off from any outside help and began a siege on the city. In a desperate attempt to escape the conflict, families have had to be constantly on the move. The ceasefire in October of 2025 has provided people with some hope of relief from the Israeli threat, but they are far from being safe. There have been hundreds of violations of the ceasefire since it was announced, and the threat of war looms over the city.

After enduring attacks from Israeli forces for over two years, the civilians of Gaza are in a critical state. Bombs have destroyed many homes and 90% of people have nothing but rubble to return to. Families are currently living without shelter, food or access to medical care. This is particularly difficult for children, pregnant women and the elderly, the most vulnerable populations.

But this recent ceasefire has given charitable organisations greater access to Gaza. We can now provide them with the support they need as they work towards recovery. The Anonymous Project has identified key ways in which we can provide help where it will have the greatest impact.

Tackling Food Scarcity

Although Gaza once produced a bounty of high-value crops from the fertile soils of its coastal plains, the ongoing destruction has wiped out the vast majority of this. Where citrus fruits, strawberries, olives, dates and staple vegetables once grew, there are now barren lands. In addition to this, most of Gaza’s livestock have died. This is due to the destruction of land from bombings, lack of fodder and subsequent starvation. With more than 95% of farmland having been either destroyed or made inaccessible, there is very little land left with which the people can feed themselves.

Now, more than 90% of Gaza’s population faces food insecurity and hundreds of thousands are at risk of starvation. Malnutrition is a major concern, especially amongst children and pregnant women. Many are dependent on aid organisations for food and receive just one meal per day. Despite suppliers making fresh fruit and vegetables available, they are selling at an exorbitant price. Because of the job crisis, most people simply cannot afford the food that is on sale.

The Anonymous Project wants to deliver food to people in Gaza, but we rely on your donations to do so. We are working with community mosques and other philanthropists to ensure that food is distributed to the people who need it. These meals are the only food that some people will receive in a day.

Addressing Shelter Needs

Tens of thousands of homes were destroyed in Gaza, with approximately 90% of people being displaced. People have constructed makeshift shelters, although these tend to be overcrowded and not always in ideal locations. Some people have had to resort to living by solid waste dumps. They are overrun with rats and are at high risk of contracting sicknesses. These shelters are critical and life-saving in the winter months, but storms and floods destroy many of these crude constructions.

Currently, the makeshift shelters remain the closest thing to a home for many people. Others have sought refuge in public buildings such as schools and hospitals. Humanitarian groups have also provided assistance in erecting more sturdy shelters and have been helping people find housing. Additionally, communities and agencies are working together to help families rebuild and repair houses.

The Anonymous Project has put together a fund for community support. Part of this goes towards providing shelter for the displaced and homeless. This helps ensure that people have somewhere to return to each day that protects them from the elements and provides them with some sense of security.

Improving Medical Care

The relentless bombardment, frequent displacement and violence experienced by Gazans have resulted in an overwhelming mental health crisis. A large proportion of children suffer from PTSD, with a significant percentage also suffering from depression and anxiety. This comes as no surprise, given the traumatic events that they have had to endure.

Bombs have destroyed schools and community spaces, which once provided people with a network of security. The services that would normally help these people are strained. Overall, communities have become fragmented due to the war and people have become more isolated due to weakened social bonds.

With so many suffering from malnutrition, they are more susceptible to infectious diseases, of which there have been countless outbreaks. There is a great need for medical care, which is being unmet due to several factors. Bombing and sieges have damaged or destroyed the vast majority of Gaza’s hospitals. The severe shortage of supplies has rendered most of the healthcare system inoperative. The few hospitals that can operate must often do so without any electricity or water. Armed forces have killed over a thousand health workers and detained hundreds more. As a result, very few functional medical facilities remain and there are very few qualified healthcare providers remaining. The few health workers who do remain are overwhelmed by the constant influx of patients.

This is where aid from organisations and community support plays a vital role. The Anonymous Project helps to fund healthcare programs that are run by local mosques and provide medical aid. By contributing towards these causes, you would be providing people with much needed medical care and supplies, which are in desperately short supply.

Funding Educational Programs

The war has taken its toll on the education system as well. Attacks have destroyed or damaged over 95% of schools in Gaza, leaving hundreds of thousands of children with limited access to face-to-face education. For the past two years, parents and teachers have been conducting their lessons in tents and shelters.

Agencies are currently in the process of providing makeshift educational facilities for children to ensure that they receive basic education and provide children with the psychosocial support they need.

The Anonymous Project helps to fund educational programs run by local mosques. These places also serve as valuable community spaces where people can receive spiritual support. The programs not only ensure children learn basic numeracy and literacy, but also provide them with a supportive community that will provide them with guidance in these difficult times.

Reviving Gaza’s Mosques

The bombings have destroyed almost 80% of the mosques in Gaza, including the ancient Omari Mosque. Mosques are incredibly important in Palestine, with almost the entire population being Muslim. Here, mosques are not only places of worship, but safe havens for those in need. Mosques shelter people when they are homeless, feed them when they are hungry and provide them with a place of worship, peace and unity. The ones that still stand are more important than ever before, as so many people have come to depend on them for support.

Our community support fund helps mosques to provide people with education, shelter and health programs, making these buildings critically important in the delivery of support.

The Anonymous Project’s Masjid Appeal aims to raise funds that will go towards preserving mosques so that communities can continue to benefit from the services that they provide.

Your donations can drastically improve the lives of people in Gaza right now. The ceasefire has provided The Anonymous Project with a valuable opportunity to deliver help to Gaza. We do not know how long we will have increased access through the borders and want to be able to deliver as much help as possible while we still can. Please support Palestine by contributing to one of The Anonymous Project’s funds or help raise funds by participating in a charity walk for Palestine. Every contribution has the potential to make a huge difference to someone’s life.
