Here at The Anonymous Project, we are committed to helping those who need it most. We work tirelessly to support communities around the world and do so without seeking public recognition.
This article will go over the projects we are currently working on in Uganda and give you some insight into why these communities are in such desperate need.
Problems Faced by Ugandans
In Uganda, many people live in poverty. This is driven by their reliance on low-yielding, subsistence farming and lack of education and skilled labour. People here are at risk of deadly diseases such as malaria, HIV/AIDS and tuberculosis, and do not have access to adequate healthcare. These problems are most evident in rural areas, where over 70% of people reside. The Anonymous Project is taking action to fix this by providing help in ways that mean the most to those facing destitution.
Water
Millions of people do not have access to a reliable source of clean water and proper sanitation in Uganda. The lack of infrastructure means that there is no way to manage waste safely. As a result, there is an alarmingly high rate of E. coli contamination in water supplies. This puts people at high risk of sickness. Many must trek long distances to reach their nearest source of clean water. But even this, they may not be able to rely on year round.
The Anonymous Project gives you the opportunity to donate money that will go towards the building of a well. This will provide a community with a safe and dependable source of water. We choose an appropriate site, call in experts to ensure the groundwater will be safe to drink and arrange for labourers and any necessary machinery for the digging process. These wells make a huge difference to people’s lives. This water will not only be used for drinking and cooking, but also to ensure their crops and livestock thrive, providing them with food security.

Poverty
For most people in Uganda, every day is a struggle where nothing is guaranteed. People are stuck in poverty as they are forced to survive on scant resources. They have next to no opportunity to expand their skills that could improve employment opportunities.
The Anonymous Project wants to help these people break free from this cycle. We offer you the option of sponsoring a child living in poverty. This gives them an incredible boost. It guarantees them a better future by covering school fees, providing them with educational materials, a safe environment and a network of dedicated local people who can help support them.
Giving a child an advantage like this gives them the chance to change the future of their community. It gives them access to opportunities that few others in their country could hope for.
Food
Most people in Uganda survive off subsistence farming. This means they must try to support their family with whatever they can grow on a small plot of land. Farming is time consuming and labour intensive. Most people cannot afford to buy or rent machinery, so they farm using hand tools instead. This necessity to allocate so much time and energy towards subsistence farming, which barely feeds a family, traps people in a cycle of poverty that is incredibly difficult to escape.
Few are able to grow any surplus food to sell at market, let alone sustain their families. To make matters worse, they do not earn enough to afford food after covering their basic expenses. As a result, they suffer from hunger and malnutrition. This can render them vulnerable to serious diseases and health problems, leaving them unable to help or support their families.
The Anonymous Project gives the option to donate money, which will go towards buying food. This could be a small donation that feeds a single family or provides a community with a meal. Or, it could be a larger donation, which benefits an entire community. We have food sustainability projects, which provide people with long term solutions to more reliably produce food.
Donating food may seem like a modest act of kindness, but it can make a world of difference to people living in poverty. For those who live day to day, uncertain of when they will get their next meal, your donation helps to alleviate the anxiety caused by food insecurity and helps to improve their chances of good health.

Clothes
Many families in Uganda do not have enough money to afford clothing. As such, the majority of the clothing in Uganda consists of second hand, imported garments. Unfortunately, these clothes tend to be of low quality and unusable. Since there is a lack of quality control, a large proportion is so damaged that it ends up being dumped or burned. Although second hand clothing is the only affordable option for most people, the government has attempted to ban the import of used clothing. The intention behind this is to protect the local textile industry and promote African wear. This would not only be unaffordable for most, but local industries are currently unable to meet this demand.
We understand that people in Uganda rely heavily on clothes donations and encourage the donation of good quality, culturally appropriate garments which we can pass directly on to them.
Donated clothes are especially important for vulnerable communities, including orphans, refugees, and families living in poverty. Blankets and clothes for newborns provide them with vital warmth and protection. Donated clothes help bring children confidence in their appearance. Furthermore, they relieve families of this expense, enabling them to allocate their limited funds towards food, education, and healthcare.
Aqiqah
An Aqiqah is an Islamic celebration that involves the sacrifice of livestock to celebrate the birth of a child. People express thanks to Allah for their new child through this practice, believing it offers protection to the newborn and brings them closer to God. They divide the meat into three parts, sharing it equally between family, friends and neighbors, and the poor. This is an important and joyous religious tradition that strengthens community bonds. An Aqiqah is normally something the parents pay for, but many families cannot afford to partake in this tradition.
The Anonymous Project gives the option of donating an Aqiqah. By donating an Aqiqah to a child you are providing their family and community with an impactful gift and a way to celebrate the arrival of a new family member.
The families who rely on the donation of an Aqiqah are families who benefit from it the most. The meat from this sacrifice is a rare and highly nutritious luxury that will be shared amongst those in their community.
